Habitat for Humanity of Greater Bangor - A Brush with Kindness Program
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Bangor (HFHGB) will begin repairing homes in partnership with qualified, low-income homeowners. The new housing repair program, A Brush with Kindness (ABWK), is an exterior home preservation service that offers painting, landscaping, minor repair services, and basic shell weatherization for homeowners in need.
ABWK helps low-income homeowners who, due to age, disability, and/or family circumstances, struggle to maintain the exterior of their houses reclaim their homes with pride and dignity. The work is done by volunteers using donated materials whenever possible. The homeowner must demonstrate need, willingness to partner with HFHGB, and the ability to repay a no-interest loan. Payments made by the partner family are placed in a revolving fund to help ABWK serve others in need.
