Roosevelt Avenue in Brewer! We have had a large number of great
volunteers helping this year. Call our office at 942-8977 or email us at

On Saturday, October 27, a number of men and woman volunteers from the
Student Chapter of the
Maine Section of the
American
Society of Civil Engineers and
a group from UMaine Rotary Club helped us build entrance stairs and
decks and rake and level the rear yard of Home #11.
On Sunday, November 18th we
will be at the Beth Israel Hanukkah Craft
Fair from 10:30 -
3:00. We will have a table there to sell house pins & matching
gift boxes. Please come see all the great crafts from local
folks.
On Saturday, December 1st we
will be at the John Baptist Holiday Craft
Fair from 9:00 -
3:00 and again selling our sell house pins & matching gift
boxes.
We finished construction on Home #11,
located off Fifth Street in Bangor, in January 2007. The Bonney family is doing
well and very happy to be in their new home.
There were over 100 volunteers that helped us accomplish the building
of this house. Thank you all! Call our office or email us if you want to get involved
on our next home - #12 off Roosevelt Ave. in Brewer. Click [HERE]
for pictures of the construction of Home #11 (needs updating).
A huge thank you goes to Stephen and Tabitha King, who have made a very
generous donation towards the construction of our next and last homes! For years, the
Kings have provided assistance to countless organizations for local
events. Thank you, Stephen and Tabitha, so much for your unwavering support of our community.
We are in receipt of another donated parcel of land off Essex Street. Thanks to
Brian Ames for this important donation. It is there we hope to build Home #14.
We have recently received the deed for a second lot off Fifth Street on
Bangor! By virtue of a supporting vote on March 28, 2005, Habitat for
Humanity of Greater Bangor became the recipient of the donation of two
small house lots upon City-owned land. We are building Homes #11
and #13 on these lots. Once homes are built upon these lots, long-time,
vacant non-taxable land will be placed on the tax roles.
We are very grateful that the
Bangor City Councilors have once again heard, and reacted to the need for affordable housing
in Bangor. Their actions demonstrate their care for this community
and its people.
The remainder of the vacant land will be divided and offered to abutting home owners in a
configuration that makes sense, reflecting the characteristics, shapes and sizes
of the existing properties.
St.
Teresa Parish,
440 S Main Street in Brewer, has become our latest
covenant church. Our covenant churches support our mission by:
-
individual and group prayer
-
provide a volunteer to act as liaison
between Habitat for Humanity and the Church body
-
support us financially with the
taking of special collections and by organizing fund-raising events on our
behalf.
THANK YOU SO MUCH !!

previously homeless woman from Portland, Maine, who now has a business
making pins and selling them at discount to non-profit organizations,
like Habitat for Humanity, because our missions are similar - to help
others in need.

DONATE
Land & Building items
We are always searching for a
parcel of suitable land on which to build our next home and for new or
previously-owned building materials such as lumber, windows, shingles,
etc. If we are to continue our mission of providing partnering families
opportunities for decent, affordable housing and realizing the American
dream of home ownership, we need help from you in the way of donations of
land, discounted land opportunities or the contribution of building
materials.
-
If you have a piece of land within close proximity to Bangor or Brewer
that you would like to offer as a donation, please give us an email or
call. Land donations are tax deductible in accordance with Maine and
Federal laws.
-
If you would be willing
to give a considerable discount on land, Habitat for Humanity of
Greater Bangor may be interested in purchasing your low-cost
parcel, especially if the opportunity for the placement of more than
one home exists.
-
Finally, if you recently
completed a construction project of your own and have a good quantity of
"leftovers" of building materials, please contact us. We will
either use these items in our next home or resell them with all the
proceeds helping to defray future construction costs.
DONATE
financially
Monetary donations are a core
ingredient that keeps our mission alive to provide affordable housing to
families in need. We appreciate any level of financial giving that you
consider and can afford. We are a registered 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization,
and as such your donation is tax deductible.
