News from the President:

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Bangor Board of Directors, I am excited to announce Sara Trafton as our new executive director, effective April 15, 2019.

Sara, originally from Boothbay Harbor, Maine, is an experienced nonprofit executive with an extensive background in strategic planning, management, resource development and marketing. She is returning to Maine after working as a consultant in the public transportation sector for the past three years in Dayton, Ohio. We are looking forward to the skills and experience Sara brings to the position and are confident in her ability to lead our organization as we serve a growing number of families in need of a decent, affordable place to call home.

Sara was selected following a search that attracted candidates from across the country. We are grateful to our search committee, comprised of board and community members, and to the entire Greater Bangor community for your encouragement and support throughout this process.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to work with Greater Bangor Habitat for Humanity and provide leadership that builds on their 30 years of excellence in providing decent, affordable housing and strengthening community," said Sara.

The community is invited to join us as we acknowledge our outgoing executive director, Lynn Hempen, for her service over the past five years at this month’s Bangor Greendrinks event, which will be held at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Bangor on April 9, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Lynn will be on board during Sara’s first two weeks to ensure a smooth transition.

This leadership transition is an exciting milestone in our proud, 30-year history building homes, community, and hope. We are delighted to begin working with Sara to achieve our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live, and hope you will join us in welcoming her.

Sincerely,
Dave Shove
